Description:POSITION SUMMARY:As a patient-focused organization,

everyone you come in contact with. As a Medical Assistant you will
make a positive difference for patients by assisting the clinical
team to provide quality patient care. The Medical Assistant will
participate as an integral part of the team approach for Exodus
Healthcare Network to ensure a smoothly functioning office. The
Medical Assistant will serve as team members to Family Practice,
GI, Podiatry, Surgery, and other EHN Teams and other teams as
needed. NATURE AND SCOPE:
- Reporting RelationshipReports to the Medical Assistant Team
Leaders.
- Functions Performed Only by Incumbent:Responsible for
supporting all medical providers at Exodus Health Care Network, and
other duties as designated by the Medical Assistant Team Leaders or
Administrator
- Internal and External ContactsInterfaces with all personnel of
the Exodus Health Care Network. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team building approach to coordination of quality patient care,
consistent with the mission of the Exodus Health Care Network
- Prepares for patient appointments by reviewing and updating
patient records prior to appointment. This includes checking for
updates of recent test results, lab results and correspondence.
Also reviews Athena to determine needed services and whether
referrals are in process or have been completed since last
visit.
- Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms
between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance
with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies
are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with
Medical Assistant Team Leaders to ensure timely reordering is
completed.
- Appropriately prepares patient for visit and alerts provider
when patient is ready to be seen. When provider is unavailable, the
MA keeps the patient updated on the status of their appointment and
when necessary assists the patient in re-scheduling or scheduling
follow-up.
- Provides initial medical screening: Greets patients and directs
to appropriate exam room. Takes weight, height, temp, blood
pressure, and basic medical history; accurately documents in
medical chart following and completing the patient care
checklist.
- Assists provider upon request during examination of patient and
according to generally accepted medical standards. Practices
universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols.
Facilitates communication between the provider(s) and patient as
needed, including translation as appropriate.
- Utilizes time in a constructive and efficient manner by
assisting in such duties as rooming patients for other providers,
MA visits, completing clinical inboxes, sterilizing instruments,
addressing biohazard garbage, restocking rooms/shelves/trays,
checking supplies, and ensuring that all areas, exam rooms and
patient care restrooms are clean and orderly.
- Performs general clerical duties in support of patient services
according to the needs of the clinic and as directed by
Administrative team, Team Leader, and or provider(s). These include
but are not limited to answering phones, photocopies, faxing,
typing, completing forms, etc.
- For safety and security reasons, the MA is responsible for
knowing the whereabouts of a patient any time the patient is in
clinical areas.
- Under the direction of the provider, obtains lab specimens,
performs pulse oximetry, spirometry, EKG's, and schedule tests and
consults by other providers.
- Promptly answers/returns phone calls and handles clinical
concerns (i.e., lab questions, lab billings, prescription refills,
etc.)
- Maintains computerized patient medical records and proper
documentation.
- Participates in a designated clinic team and supports the total
quality improvement philosophy of the clinic.
- Completes continuing education, in-service training, technical
updates, and other activities to assure continued competency
- Maintains warm, sensitive, and cooperative relationships with
patients, patient's families, co-workers, administration, medical
staff, etc.
- Treats all customers in a polite and congenial manner
- Demonstrates sincere concern and sensitivity to the needs of
all customer at all times.
- Regards personal information offered by others in private and
confidential manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information
- Responds to inquiries in an appropriate and polite manner.
- Attends staff and medical meetings, as required.
- Other duties as needed or assigned by the Administration, Team
Leader, and ProviderRequirements:EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma.
- Certified Medical Assistant in the state of Utah EXPERIENCE:
- CPR (Basic Life Support)
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills
- Medical Assistant work related experience 1 year preferred
